Welcome to the League of Women Voters of Greater Pittsburgh!

"Empowering Voters. Defending Democracy."

2025 is a Wrap!  See our Year in Review!
Our 300 members volunteered over 10,000 hours!  What did we accomplish?

Bus shelter posters throughout the city reminded commuters to vote in the municipal primary and provided links to nonpartisan candidate information.

Courthouse Naturalization Ceremony 2025
In a year with new restrictions on our participation, our adaptable Naturalization Team continued to serve 700+ new citizens with voter information and registration assistance.  The League continues to volunteer at courthouse ceremonies, and a new web page serves new citizens with access to the information we are no longer able to distribute in person.  100s of new citizens have used the links provided to access the New Citizens page.

Allegheny County's 131 municipalities and 40+ school districts make the LWVPGH Vote411 team the busiest in the nation during municipal election years.

Our Vote411 team reached out to over 1,000 candidates and posted information for 100s of local municipal races.

Vote411 candidate information reached Allegheny County voters through:

  • Over 15,000 visits to Vote411.org from Allegheny County
  • 2,500 copies of the printed Voters' Guide distributed in both the Primary and General Elections
  • 3,000 - 4,000 views of the online Voters' Guide in both the Primary and General Elections
  • 10,000+ combined views of our 2025 Vote411 "mini-guides" for 9 individual races

Your Government Officials: 2025

printed copies of  "Your Government Officials: 2025" were distributed through Allegheny County libraries and at our Civic Education and Voter Service events.

"Your Government Officials" is a government "user's manual" for Allegheny County residents, containing contact information for public officials serving Allegheny County, and election and voting details for Pennsylvania residents.

In 2025, our volunteers gave "Your Government Officials" a new look and layout!

The Web Team...

LWV Advocacy
LWVUS Declares that the United States is in a Constitutional Crisis

"The foundational principles that have sustained our democracy — checks and balances, the rule of law, free and fair elections — are under direct and sustained threat. In this extraordinary moment, we cannot proceed with business as usual. All Americans — no matter who you voted for in 2024 — need to come together, stand united, and fight back to save our democracy. We cannot afford to fail the generations to come.”

Call to Action:

Oppose the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act.
LWVUS, LWVPA, and LWVPGH ask all League members and the public to contact their US Senators and ask them to vote “NO” on the SAVE Act. The US House of Representatives passed this bill on April 10, 2025. Now it is in the Senate for consideration.

The SAVE Act

  • would require in-person citizenship documentation to register to vote, putting an unfunded burden on all county elections offices

  • would exclude millions of eligible citizens from registering to vote if they don't have passports, access to their birth certificates, or if those documents do not reflect their name following a name change if their married name does not match their birth certificate name.

  • would effectively end online voter registration and mail-in voting

  • would limit voter registration efforts by nonprofits like the LWV

  • would require military voters, and any other voter who moves, to present documentation every time they re-register to vote due to a move
